This game is based on an ancient vampiric creature from Romani folklore called the Trash Kaddu! Unlike some of our other vampires who are most definitely deadly, the Trash Kaddu begins its life as little more than a mischievous house-sprite.

BUT...

If a pumpkin is left in sitting in the moonlight, under a full winter’s moon, while the veil is thin, the house-sprite can inhabit that pumpkin and become a little Trash Kaddu! The longer you leave it... the more you feed it treats... the more mischief it creates and the bigger and more powerful it will grow...

The whole town will know about it if a full grown Trash Kaddu gets on the loose! Even worse, a whole group of them!

It is the first full moon of winter. Inside the little vardo, the family are sound asleep. Outside in the moonlit fields, the pumpkins sit - ripe and round like new laid sun-eggs - glowing softly in the amber light.

The four grai stamp their feet and shift their weight uneasily - they are not afraid but they know full well when the veil between the worlds is growing thin. All animals can talk at these thin times, they see the unseen and they foretell the future and recall the past.

Veshijackal pads softly by like a living flame skirting the winter wood. The old tabby mouser stretches herself by the warm wood stove. Beneath the painted wheels, Rukkerpukkermengri and little Hotchiwitchi nibble chestnuts and share gossip about summers past.

All the animals watch and wait as slowly, slowly, four of the pumpkins begin to stir...

In this game, players each take the role of one Trash Kaddu. The ideal number is four players and one Game Master to guide the game forwards, but you can easily have more or less players if you wish.

Before you play, choose your Trash Kaddu playbook - this determines your personality type and your powers which will rise and fall as you play. The more treats (guddis) you consume and the more mischief (mizhipen) you cause, the more powers you will gain and the greater your reputation, size and potential for trouble will grow!

But certain ‘Baxt’ things will cause you to shrink in power as well - things which break your link to your material form diminish your power and MIGHT even force you right out of your pumpkin body altogether!

GAME SAFE: This is a lighthearted game about a mischievous vampiric creature from Romani folklore. Even though the tone is light, it does have monsters, ghosts, skeletons, and fungul horrors baked into its core. In keeping with Roma beleifs and traditions, the monsters do not harm children, pets, or vulnerable/defenseless adults. Please have a session zero before you play to set Lines and Veils for the comfort and safety of your group.

This game is dedicated in loving memory to my mum, Jennifer-G, who dedicated her whole life to causing mischief and making others laugh. No matter how dark the world seemed to be, she was like a living flame.
